There aren’t enough words to describe the awesome work of this multi-awarded photographer. Gianluca De Bartolo comes from Bari, my beautiful hometown in the sunny Puglia, the heel of the boot, which recently made it into National Geographic’s 2014 Best Trips exclusive list.
He traveled around Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Malawi, South Africa, Bangladesh, Tibet, Nepal and more.
As Italian journalist and writer Tiziano Terzani once said “For a real photographer, a story is not a place where to go with sofisticated cameras and right filters. A story entails reading, studying, getting ready. The great picture is the image of an idea. You need to understand what’s behind the facts in order to depict them. A photo – click! – well, that’s something that anyone can do.”
Here’s a selection of De Bartolo’s work, deep and meaningful. His photography speaks for him.
